Body scrubs have been part of my beauty routine for years. But I’ve never found a scrub that I love. Some are too heavily perfumed with artificial fragrances, and they irritate my nose and throat. Other body scrubs are scented with natural essential oils, but sometimes the essential oils burn on my skin. Other scrubs are simply too rough for my skin!
Recently I started making my own body scrub using ingredients from my kitchen. It’s so easy that I’ll never buy another scrub again. It’s just 2 ingredients – coconut oil and sugar! I like the subtle scent of coconut, but you can add a few drops of essential oil if you want the body scrub to be scented (check the label to see if the essential oil safe to use on skin and instructions for how much to use).
Here are the instructions to make this easy body scrub:
You will need
- 1 cup sugar (I use plain white sugar)
- 4 tablespoons coconut oil
Just mix the ingredients in a jar or other container of your choice (like a washed empty yogurt container). Mix well so the coconut oil is well-distributed in the sugar. There should not be a “puddle” of oil at the bottom. It’s it — you’re done!
It just takes a few minutes to make this easy and inexpensive DIY body scrub! Enjoy!
