Here is a super-easy chocolate truffle chai recipe, just in time for Valentine’s Day. Surprise your sweetie on Valentine’s morning with this delicious treat!
- 1 tablespoon loose leaf black tea (such as Assam or Darjeeling)
- 3/4 cup water
- 3/4 cup milk
- 2 tablespoons dark chocolate sauce (I prefer Recchiuti extra-bitter chocolate sauce, my second-favorite is King’s Cupboard bittersweet chocolate sauce. You can find both at Whole Foods. Don’t use a chocolate syrup that is mostly corn syrup, and don’t use chocolate powder. You won’t get the full truffle-like flavor.)
(Makes 1 serving)
1- Add the water and tea to a small saucepan. Bring water to a boil. Once it starts boiling, turn off the heat.
2- Let the tea steep for about 5-7 minutes, depending on how strong you want it.
3- Use a tea strainer to strain the tea into a mug. Discard the tea leaves.
4- Return the pot to the stove. Add the dark chocolate sauce, and heat on low to medium heat. Once it starts melting (be careful to avoid burning the chocolate sauce), add the milk. Stir continuously to mix the chocolate with the milk.
5- Once the milk is warm, add the milk to the tea.
I hope you enjoyed this chocolate truffle chai recipe! It’s delicious with my recipe for whole grain Nutella sandwich cookies. Happy Valentine’s Day!
